Porto Montenegro : the Mediterranean’s leading luxury yacht homeport and marina village
Porto Montenegro is the premier marina village and yacht homeport in the Mediterranean. This state-of-the- art facility has been designed to cater to the advanced needs of all yachts, their owners, guests and crew with specific infrastructure for the largest yachts afloat.
At the moment, the marina offers over 250 berths, and on-land amenities. Thanks to expansion works, Porto Montenegro will soon become the Mediterranean’s leading luxury yacht homeport and marina village.
Marina’s development
The marina opened with 85 berths in summer 2009, and has since grown to the current capacity of 250 berths, of which 54 are for yachts over 30m. The number of large yachts under construction has more than tripled over the past ten years. Few marinas in the world can accommodate superyachts (vessels over 30 metres in length). Due to overwhelming demand, Porto Montenegro has started construction to double its current marina capacity by 2014.
From April 2013 to May 2015, phase two construction works to double the size of the marina will be in operation. In summer 2014, 173 new berths will be complete, taking the total to 423. Upon completion of the expansion in summer 2015, the marina will offer 477 berths, taking the total number of berths for yachts 30m and over to 124 (max. capacity of 150m LOA).
Porto Montenegro will provide the highest level of service and amenities for vessels of all sizes – including nearby drydock and repair facilities. In addition, the development will create a vibrant coastal community of waterfront residences, hotels and restaurants, shopping, water sports and leisure facilities.
Marina Facilities
Porto Montenegro lies within one of the world’s most idyllic nautical playgrounds: the Bay of Kotor. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Bay of Kotor is Europe’s southernmost fjord and the largest natural harbour in the eastern Mediterranean. Its 100 kilometres of coastline twist inland from the open waters of the Adriatic on the southern edge of the Dalmatian coast.
With Venice and the Croatian archipelago to the north, Corfu and the Ionian Islands to the south and the eastern coast of Italy to the west, the bay also offers easy and direct access to some of the best cruising in the Mediterranean basin. Porto Montenegro is within a three-hour flight of most European capitals and served by three international airports. This ease of access extends waterside, with the marina just a day’s sail from some of the Mediterranean’s best cruising grounds, including the Croatian islands, making it the ideal starting point for yacht charters.
Besides its oustanding location, the marina offers mooring facilities to homeport vessels as well as those navigating Montenegro’s waters on a temporary vignette. On-site duty-free fuelling and 24-hour Yacht Assist will be complemented by a nearby superyacht refit and repair facility, founded in partnership with Adriatic Shipyard Bijela.
This integral component in Porto Montenegro’s role as a year-round homeport will allow yachts nearby access to a respected refit service provider. The refit and maintenance facility is expected to be operational by 2014.
Other onsite facilities include yacht brokers’ offices, Freedom Maritime chandlery with comprehensive logistics assistance for any chandlery, safety and engineering needs and Porto Montenegro Yacht Club that hosts a variety of social events, regattas, sailing competitions and sailing schools.
Last but not least, Porto Montenegro became an official port of entry in summer 2010, allowing customers to do customs clearance in a hassle- free and speedy manner.
In addition to all the facilities necessary for the yachts to be cleaned, fuelled, repaired and refurbished, Porto Montenegro offers owners, crew and guests an entire lifestyle: accommodation and provisions, shops and entertainment, culture and history, mountain amenities plus sizable tax benefits – right on the doorstep of one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful aquatic playgrounds.
The vibrant village community being created in the heart of Tivat will encompass all the facilities necessary for 21st century life. Retail and commercial elements will combine with public facilities. The waterfront will feature wide promenades, a five star hotel, restaurants and cafes. In time, the development will also grow to include a casino complex.
The Regent Hotel & Residence
The Regent Hotel and Residences Porto Montenegro, designed by ReardonSmith Architects, comprises 34 hotel rooms and 54 residences, including studios, 1-4 bedroom apartments and penthouse suites. Set to welcome guests by Summer 2014, will become a central piece in this evolving marina community.
Combining the operational excellence and hospitality expertise of Regent Hotels & Resorts within the spectacular setting of Porto Montenegro will further reinforce the country’s position as an emerging high-end tourism destination with enormous growth potential.
Thanks to its state-of-the-art infrastructure and its on-land luxurious facilities, Porto Montenegro has already become the most luxurious marinas in the Mediterranean.
