Four Seasons Rabat: A Majestic Stop on the Atlantic Coast
Nestling in the heart of the imperial capital of Rabat, the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr, nicknamed the ‘Palace by the Sea’, will open its doors on 1 October 2024. Set in five hectares of lush gardens, this sumptuous hotel embodies the elegance of a former 18th-century royal residence, transformed into a modern haven of luxury.
“Rabat is a city whose time has come”, says Gregory Viaud, General Manager of the hotel. “Four Seasons is ushering in a new era of luxury and glamour, building on a tradition of personalised service. Our team looks forward to welcoming local residents and travellers from around the world to this iconic location”.
Culturally rich surroundings
Atop a hill overlooking the Atlantic, the Four Seasons shares its skyline with the Kasbah des Oudayas, a fortress dating back to the 12th century. The winding streets of the neighbouring medina beckon with shops offering treasures, providing an authentic experience. In the heart of the Kasbah, the Andalusian gardens, remnants of the French colonial era, offer an oasis of tranquillity.
The hotel is just 30 minutes from Rabat-Salé airport and 1 hour 30 minutes from Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport. It is also close to two of Rabat’s main train stations, offering fast connections to Casablanca and Tangiers via Morocco’s high-speed rail network.
A combination of traditional and modern architecture
A tribute to Rabat’s architectural diversity, the Four Seasons itself, built in the late eighteenth century as the summer residence of Sultan Moulay Slimane, features Moorish architecture. Domes, arched doorways and courtyards with fountains create an immersive atmosphere, taking visitors back to a carefully preserved Arab era.
With 200 rooms and suites, the majority with balconies or terraces offering ocean or garden views, accommodation promises an exceptional experience. In a historic eighteenth-century building, the meticulously renovated Sultan’s Riad suite offers a sumptuous Riad experience over almost 1,000 m², where rooms and suites reveal all their luxury.
The Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr fuses classic Moroccan architecture with modern design. Specially designed Zellige tiles on the walls and floors, as well as brass and copper metals in fittings and furnishings, add historic touches to the interior, while stained glass windows diffuse delicate light. All these details testify to the commitment to local craftsmanship.
A complete experience
The Spa at Four Seasons, hidden amongst the palace gardens, offers wellness rituals inspired by Moroccan traditions, with traditional hammams and an indoor saltwater pool, providing a unique sensory experience. The 24-hour fitness centre offers state-of-the-art equipment, yoga classes and personalised workouts.
With seven restaurants and bars, the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr promises to be a lively place for locals and visitors alike. Among the culinary experiences, Brasserie Marie offers a taste of refined French cuisine. Verdello, opening in December, will serve Mediterranean and Italian dishes, while Flamme will offer international culinary delights in a veranda with stunning views of the pools. For a more relaxed experience, Noora Lobby Lounge and Bar Atlantique will serve creative cocktails prepared by expert mixologists. The Laila Lounge, located in the palace’s oldest building, will offer a unique ambience for festive moments.
Finally, with 2,700 square metres of event space, including the Royal Ballroom for up to 1,000 guests, the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr is the ideal destination for prestigious meetings and weddings. Other options include a Junior Ballroom, seven meeting rooms and a private outdoor terrace, perfect for events under the sun or the stars.
