L’hôtel du Palais: Biarritz’ pearl opens its gates on the ocean and French Basque country
France is full of authentic and historical places, such as Hôtel du Palais, dated from 1854 and inspired by Napoleon 3rd’s love for Joséphine. At first called “Villa Eugénie”, the building was transformed through the years and became Palais Biarritz, before being torched and be definitely called Hôtel du Palais in 1903. Hôtel du Palais is a five star hotel classified among French palaces since 2011. Located only a few kilometres from Spanish border, its façade and rooftop are considered as historical monuments and hide 145 rooms and 55 suites facing Atlantic ocean, or overhanging the garden, the park, the main courtyard or the pool.
Inspired by Second Empire style, rooms and suites at Hôtel du Palais still offer all necessary modern technologies for a pleasant stay. You can also choose Ocean suites that represents from 60 to 80sq.m with – as their name indicates- a stunning view of the sea, the Imperial Suites that represents 75 to 90sq.m and finally Palace, Junior and Biarritz suites that represent from 50 to 65sq.m, more intimate but still spacious.
French luxury
To deserve its “French Palace” title, Hôtel du Palais works with the best experts in terms of French gastronomy to satisfy their client’s palate. Then chef Jean-Marie Gautier and his assistants do an amazing job with the restaurant’s team, always searching for progress and perfection, and adapting their menu to all seasons.
So Hôtel du Palais offers two places of exception for your culinary envies, such as Villa Eugénie that offers gastronomic dinner in one of Europe’s most beautiful restaurant. There, huge bay windows allow you to eat in front of the ocean, Biarritz famous lighthouse and the bay, while you appreciate the menu of this rewarded restaurant (one star at Michelin Guide). There you also savour classical but still refined and tasty cuisine, cooked with local products and seafood. A great choice of traditional dishes is also offered.
If you prefer to relax outside the restaurant, you can also choose Hippocampe restaurant at Hôtel du Palais. This one is open from April to October and has one of the city’s most beautiful views. The menu is light, and can be tasted between the Ocean and the pool. At the end of the day, you can have a pleasant moment at Imperial bar and listen to piano while choosing one of the hotel’s impressive cognacs and Armagnacs.
