An eternal Palace

La Mamounia, symbol of traditional Moroccan hospitality, is located in the heart of the imperial city, nestled in a 17 acre park, 5 minutes walk from the Jemaa El Fna square.

From the beginning of its story, La Mamounia has never been large enough to satisfy all the guests who wanted to be accommodated. Until the end of thirties, the hotel had only fifty rooms. But it was expanded in 1946 to include 100 rooms, then refurbished successively in 1950, 1953, 1986 and finally in 2006 for a reopening with 210 keys on September 29th 2009.

The reopening of the hotel has attracted even more celebrities. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Said Taghmaoui, Salma Hayek and Juliette Binoche preferring posed for photographers on the red carpet Mamounia. The famous American actor Orlando Bloom’s even decided to celebrate Thanksgiving in love with his girlfriend Miranda Kerr in this magical and romantic place.

The Moroccan legendary palace La Mamounia has been redesigned by internationally acclaimed designer, Jacques Garcia, combining a true Moroccan style and ambiance with the new technology.

The decorator replaced the original art deco style with a more filtered and oriental ambiance. Zelliges, mosaics, woodwork, wrought iron, stained glass and marble are associated with the warm and gleaming colors that now decorate the site.

From the salons to the spa and in the 136 rooms, 71 suites and the 3 sumptuous riads in the heart of the park, the style is Arab-Moorish with a comfortable touch of the totally modern. The Mamounia, a veritable institution in Marrakech, possesses a fantastic view of the city, the Koutoubia mosque, the Atlas Mountains and the hotel’s magnificent park.
