The Ducati 1199 Panigale S make a tribute to Ayrton Senna
For the Two wheels Motorcycle Show (from the 8th to 13th October 2013) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Bologna’s manufacturer, Ducati has presented the 1199 Panigale S Senna, a very special version of the over powerful Panigale S.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the great F1 champion Ayrton Senna’s disappearance, Ducati has created a tremendous event. In fact, the Brazilian champion used to collaborate with the Italian brand before his death. Ducati wishes to revive the speed passionate champion’s myth that will be remembered in the F1’s world as well as in the history of the legendary Italian brand.
The 1199 Panigale S Senna will be produced for 161 units, not by chance
Available in June 2014, this motorcycle is the most powerful of the road range developed by Ducati. A two-cylinder engine of 195 Hp offering 1199cc, enough to seduce Ducati’s passionate and extreme speed lovers.
Exclusively built for the Brazilian market, the 1199 Panigale S Senna will be produced as a limited edition: 161 units only, the official grand prix championships ran by the iconic racing driver in his entire career. The Brazilian champion fans will appreciate the fact that all the 1199 Panigale S Senna will be ranked from 1 to 161 on the upper fork. An absolute collector’s piece.
A unique design, combining Ducati and Senna
The 1199 Panigale S is particularly expressive in its grey anthracite fairing, iron-made red wheels, an aluminum frame and a racing exhaust. The Ohlins suspensions with electronic setting, are the engine’s by far unique specificity, they are scattered with water drops. The sense of detail crosses the fairing by the famous ‘S’, reminding you of the magnetic racing circuit curves, which leads into unveiling the triple world champion’s name.
The grey color of the 1199 Panigale S Senna was chosen by Ayrton Senna himself during a visit to Borgo Panigale factory, just a few weeks before his deadly accident in Imola (1994). Later on, Ducati has decided to release a special series of the 916SP models in the emblematic name of Senna, marvels that collectors would fight for.
At the dawn of the twentieth anniversary of the legendary champion’s passing away, Ducati has reconciled itself with history by building the Panigale S Senna. Some people would complete their collection with this new exceptional series of Ducati. Still, it is mandatory to live in Brazil and be one of the very first 161 speed lovers to order this mind-blowing model.
