Girard Perregaux enchants ten watch-lovers with the amazing Tri-Axial Tourbillon
These who love complex and rare watches won’t miss the occasion to find one of the ten unique Tri-Axial Tourbillon watch, true innovation from Girard-Perregaux house, the reference in Tourbillon watches. With this new piece, the watchmaker wants to defy gravity thanks to advanced timekeeping precision.
A precision that defies gravity
The Tri-Axial Tourbillon appears to be very complex and precise concerning its different movements, going further in innovation. The tourbillon and its regulating organ rotate at an impressive speed. The first carriage, the interior carriage shaped like a lyre, as in each Girard-Perregaux watch, rotates once every minute. This one is integrated to a second carriage that realises a complete rotation (also called a revolution) in 30 seconds on another axis. Then, the third carriage allows the whole movement to rotate every two minutes on a final axis.
This complex mechanic needs 160h of work, necessary to assemble all Tri-Axial Tourbillon 317 components, for a total weight of only 1.249 gr and 13.78mm of diameter. The manual winding movement has a minimum power reserve of 60 hours.
Modernity and watchmaking tradition
Tri-Axial Tourbillon has a convex lens being incorporated into its sapphire crystal. This one has been placed to give the tourbillon all necessary space to execute the different revolutions.
Cleverly built, Tri-Axial Tourbillon’s case is opened at 9 hours to let the light enter and appreciate the amazing spectacle of the different movements, that are also visible from the back of the case. But the true innovation in this white gold version stands in its transparent dial with open areas that let you discover the precise mechanic of the watch.
These different observing points allow to contemplate the exceptional finishes of the Tri-Axial Tourbillon, as the mirror-polished surfaces and the perfect bevelling. Each of its components is unique, decorated and finished by hand. On the bridge side there is a black-coloured plate, stamped with Girard-Perregaux emblematic eagle that forms a fabulous contrast with the brand’s arrow-shaped bridges in pink gold.
Then Tri-Axial Tourbillon brand logo area is also made with pink gold and reveals each model’s unique number, and the satin-finish circular bridge is stamped with “Tri-Axial” mention. All of that is mounted on a black leather alligator and hand-stitched wrap, coming with a white gold folding clasp. This unique and very precise model reveals all the art of a great watchmaking house.
