Ralph Lauren unveils its new Sporting Automotive Flying Tourbillon
As a SIHH 2014 preview, the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, Ralph Lauren has unveiled his new timepiece : the Sporting Automotive Flying Tourbillon. Combining his passion for prestigious cars with his passion for luxury timepieces, Ralph Lauren draws upon inspiration from his 1938 Bugatti Atlantic Coupe to create his new timepiece and takes of the opportunity to revive the magic of the old dashboard clocks.
Outstanding expertise and jewellery design
Last timepiece of the Automotive collection, Ralph Lauren reaches the watchmaking excellence by introducing into his Automotive Flying Tourbillon one the of most prestigious watchmaking complications : the Flying Tourbillon. Revealed through an aperture at 6’oclock and supported only at the bottom of the cage, the Flying Tourbillon appears as if suspended, thanks to an outstanding cantilevered construction. Its 45 mm shot-blasted black stainless steel case operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph to achieve absolute precision thanks to the exclusive RL167 self-winding caliber.
Besides the sapphire-crystal case back and the 28 rubies, the RL167 caliber features an off-centered gold-plated micro-rotor and a vertical Côtes de Genève decoration. Two luminescent sword-shaped hands orbit the central time display.
Ralph Lauren provides a beautiful contrast in textures and colours with the elm burlwood at the outer dial , the matte-black of the inner dial and the black alligator strap. A real symbol of watchmaking excellence and luxury design !
