Christophe Claret makes a new technological progress with the X-TREM-1!
While Christophe Claret is imagining his new creations, he is also searching for technological progress, as he has proved once again with the new X-Trem-1 watch. The watch is now available in two new versions only limited to 8 unique copies in damascened steel.
The integration of magnetic fields
Always higher, always further, Christophe Claret never ends to surprise us with unique and uncommon timepieces. And he proves that again with the X-Trem-1 model that reveals unseen technics and integrates magnetic fields into the watch movement.
Hours and minutes display on X-Trem-1 is like no other, generated by a new system driven by magnetic fields. Yet, magnetic fields are truly the opposite of usual horological mechanism but it is far from frightening this renowned expert.
So he has integrated to the X-Trem-1 two small steel spheres encased within two sapphire tubes placed to the right and left of the caseband, that can move with the magnetic fields generated by two miniature magnets moved by cables. Extremely thins, these cables are highly resistant and can last up to 6 years.
Concerning the whole X-Trem-1, it answers to extreme requirements as it name indicates. That understands a three-dimensional curvex mainplate and ultra-light titanium bridges. The watch is also equipped with a flying tourbillon with double ceramic bearings, also highly resistants. In order to bring a better visibility to the wearer, the tourbillon has been inclined at 30 degrees and is powered by two barrels.
A rare and precious material
The other novelty of the X-trem-1 stands in the damascened steel, elegantly married to grey or pink gold in the case fabrication. Forgotten for a long time then reused, damascened steel finds its origins in 2500 BC and was also used to build Damas blades and Asian katanas, because of its roughness and flexibility.
But it is still hard to modulate, that is why Christophe Claret expert teams had to use all their know-how to mould it into a design and uncommon watchcase. But thanks to this one, X-trem-1 has an homogeneous design, also resistant to any shock and corrosion. Then, gold has been inserted to the ceramic for the time indicator.
The result appears to be absolutely stunning, and the X-trem-1 reveals all its chrome through all its finishes: the case, the spheres, the numerals, as well as the tourbillon’s cage and Christophe Claret’s logo.
Each of the X-trem-1 height pieces will be sold for 268.00 Swiss francs plus taxes.
